What does Surf Coach Manager do?

Surf Coach Manager is an online platform designed to gather physical, technical, tactical, psychological and competition data.

SCM allows you to evaluate your athletes’ level of surfing, keep records, organize competition schedules, plan training sessions, do follow-up work online, set up on-site and virtual contests, among others.

SCM is aimed at surf instructors, sports federations, surf schools, athletes, sponsors and institutions.

ANALYSIS AND DATA REGISTRY

Observe, register and study the development of your athletes based on variables grouped within the 5 fundamental training areas: physical, technical, wave usage, tactical and psychological. Multiple data analysis will guide you in your decision making and help you to lead your project in the right direction.

PLANNING, MONITORING AND EVALUATION

Yearly planning of your athletes’ activities and detailed monitoring of more than 50 possible variables in Surfing. Schedule contests, training sessions, rest periods, evaluations and testing.

SELECTION AND COMPARISON OF ATHLETES

Are you in the process of selecting your team? SCM compares your athletes’ national and international results, and their technical, physical and competitive levels. It creates a monthly internal ranking based on the videos that are uploaded during training sessions. SCM provides the tools and statistics that will help to guide you in your decision making.

WORK IN-PERSON AND ONLINE

SCM has no distance or time limits, you can implement in-person or remote training sessions and keep track of activities. Both the athlete and coach are able to continue working from afar during periods of travel for contests or further training.

SIMULTANEOUS MONITORING OF ATHLETES

Due to its vast data storage capacity, SCM allows a team of professionals to work simultaneously in a collaborative environment and with a range of athletes.

JUDGING PLATFORM AND VIRTUAL CONTESTS

SCM offers two associated judging platforms, one that allows you to perform training heats or mini contests and another that carries out virtual contests, helping you to compare and measure manoeuvre potential between various athletes remotely. Both platforms include online judging templates.

ON-SITE DATA CAPTURE
SCM offers an interface especially designed to facilitate data collection in the field. While offline it offers a quick and simple way to score your athletes surfing manoeuvres.
VIDEO ANALYSIS AND SCORING TOOLS
Videos can be paused, slowed down or speeded up and drawn on in order to analyse and provide feedback to your athletes. Sessions can be recorded and referential videos are used to compare manoeuvres. Waves are scored and an internal ranking system is created.
CALENDAR OF UPCOMING EVENTS AND TESTS
Straightforward scheduling of competitions, physical and technical training sessions, rest periods and medical tests. SCM provides an electronic template for planning your work and creating a Macrocycle, and offers a quick overview of upcoming events which allows for easy and prompt monitoring and intervention to initiate key activities.
TECHNICAL INDICATORS
Work on technical aspects of all types of manoeuvres: Bottom turn, Power slide, Snap, Re-entry, Floater, Carve, Air, Layback, Tube ride and many more, for both backside and frontside in all three types of wave (beach break, point break and reef break). In addition, SCM studies data on wave usage (speed, strength, variety of repertoire, first manoeuvre, among others) and tactical information such as: use of priority, dominant position, wave selection, use of time, and so on.
PHYSICAL INDICATORS
Progression in the sport requires a physical condition that is consistent with the level of surfing. SCM keeps a register of the main physical measurements associated with the sport, such as strength and inferior potential, paddle strength and other more general tests.
PSYCHOLOGICAL INDICATORS
The process of sport-psychological evaluation allows us to determine a guideline for our athletes in relation to a series of functional psychological parameters associated with the sport. The parameters are fundamental in understanding their current performance and planning an athlete’s future career.
DIGITAL PROFILE OF ATHLETE
Digitalizing the information surrounding an athlete is key to facilitating the analysis of data and variables between multiple professionals. A digital profile quickly provides the general information that is repeatedly required such as name, date of birth, gender, discipline, hometown, email address, coach, plus their main career milestones.
COACH LOGBOOK
Each athlete has an associated register spreadsheet to which only their coach has access. The information is private and all comments that need registering are stored here. Every analysed parameter has its own textbox which is organized on a timeline.
VIDEO CLASSIFICATION AND STORAGE
SCM stores all uploaded videos and facilitates your search by using filters such as: athlete, date, surf spot and manoeuvre. The videos are uploaded and administered within the platform.
HISTORICAL ANALYSIS OF ATHLETE
Analyze the evolution of your athletes over time, whether it be in physical aspects, technical, tactical or psychological, and implement corrections to your planned training schedule. Register your athletes’ national and international ranking to keep track of their efforts, project results and make comparisons between athletes.
WEEKLY UPDATES AND NOTIFICATIONS
Set up automatic messages to be sent weekly via email to notify the athletes of the activities and tasks they should be doing based on the training plan that has been designed by their coach. There is also an automatic notification when either athlete or coach uploads a video to an athlete’s account.
ADAPTABLE FOR OTHER DISCIPLINES
SCM can be applied to Longboard, SUP Surf, SUP Race and Parasurf by adapting the technical parameters in evaluation. All of the functions are compatible to these disciplines and facilitate the organization of sports teams in its entirety.
